A Fondue Night Out
Four couples enjoy the full course as the fondue craze bubbles back.
July 30, 2007
From the introduction, the four couples sat in booths numbered 1-4 left-to-right as served by waitress Melanie de Melt. By clue 1, Mike and his wife sat in the booth between those of the Prices and the couple who ordered East Is East as their entree selection; while by clue 6, Cheryl and her husband had the booth between those of the couple who had Steak-Out as their entree and the couple who shared the House Salad. If Mike and Cheryl were husband-and-wife, the Prices would have had the Steak-Out entree--no (clue 12). Therefore, Mike and his wife and Cheryl and her husband had the two inside booths; and Cheryl and her husband either are the Prices or had the East Is East main course in clue 1. If Cheryl and her husband were the Prices, the couple who ordered East Is East would have sat in the end booth next to Mike and his wife. Lonny and his wife chose HotPot HodgePodge for their entree (2); since Lonny isn't Mr. Price (12), he and his wife would have had the other end booth, next to Cheryl and her husband. By clue 6, then, Mike and his wife would have ordered Steak-Out and Lonny and his wife would have shared a House Salad. By elimination, Cheryl and her spouse would have chosen The Ocean as their main course. By clue 3, the couple who had Darkly Delicious for dessert sat in the booth between those of the couple who shared a Waldorf Salad and the couple who picked the Caesar Salad. The couple who had Darkly Delicious would have been Mike and his wife, who would also have had a Chef's Salad and would then be Mr. & Mrs. Queen (8). Cheryl's husband would be Jack (4), and Ken and his wife would have had East Is East. By clue 10, Ken and his wife would have ordered the Chocolate Ripple fondue for dessert--but Mike and his wife couldn't be the Stones in clue 11. Therefore, Cheryl and her husband can't be the Prices and are the couple in clue 1 who enjoyed East Is East. Mr. & Mrs. Price sat in the end booth next to Mike and his wife (1). Lonny and his wife chose HotPot HodgePodge for their entree (2); since Lonny isn't Mr. Price (12), he and his wife had the other end booth, next to Cheryl and her husband. By clue 6, then, Mike and his wife ordered the Steak-Out and Lonny and his wife shared a House Salad. By elimination, Mr. & Mrs. Price chose The Ocean as their main course. By clue 3, the couple who had Darkly Delicious for dessert sat in the booth between those of the couple who shared a Waldorf Salad and the couple who picked the Caesar Salad. The couple who had Darkly Delicious must have been Mike and his wife, who then also had a Chef's Salad and are Mr. & Mrs. Queen (8). Cheryl's husband is Ken (4), and Jack and his wife ordered The Ocean as their meat entree. By clue 10, Ken and Cheryl ordered Chocolate Ripple for dessert. Then Lonny is Mr. Stone (11); by elimination, Cheryl and Ken are the Rymans. By clues 3 and 7, the Prices had a Waldorf Salad and the Rymans a Caesar Salad. By clue 9, Diana is Mrs. Stone. Jack's wife is Beth and Mike's is Anne (5). Jack and Beth enjoyed the S'Mores dessert fondue (13), with the Stones choosing Berry Berry Good. Finally, The Queens sat in booth #2 (14) with the Prices then in #1, the Rymans in #3, and the Stones in #4. In sum, the four couples enjoyed their Fondue Night Out as follows:

  • #1 -- Jack & Beth Price, Waldorf Salad, The Ocean, S'Mores
  • #2 -- Mike & Anne Queen, Chef's Salad, Steak-Out, Darkly Delicious
  • #3 -- Ken & Cheryl Ryman, Caesar Salad, East Is East, Chocolate Ripple
  • #4 -- Lonny & Diana Stone, House Salad, HotPot HodgePodge, Berry Berry Good
