the 2nd item lost would have been left behind at the Journey Behind the
Falls. By clues 1 and 7, then, the Slapdashes would have gone down the
Cave of the Winds and ridden the Maid of the Mist 1st and 3rd or
vice versa. Then Sid (1) or Sydney (7) would lost something at the
family's 5th adventure. However, there is no way clue 4 can work given
either of these arrangements. Therefore, Sally wasn't 1st to lose
something; Sammy was. The family member who lost something at the 2nd
Niagara Falls attraction wasn't Sid (1) or Sydney (7) and was Sally or
Suzy. If Suzy had been the 2nd one to lose something, by clue 4, the
family would have gone to the top of the Skylon Tower 1st. The item
Sammy lost there wouldn't have been the sunglasses (1), baseball cap (3),
sweatshirt (4), camera (6), or backpack (7)--so there is no way for this
arrangement to work. So, Sally lost something at the 2nd attraction the
Slapdashes visited. By clue 5, the family went on the Journey Behind the
Falls 3rd. In clues 1 and 3, then, the family explored the Cave of the Winds
and rode the Maid of the Mist 1st and 2nd or vice versa. In
either case, by clue 4, the Slapdashes would have ascended the Skylon
Tower 4th in order, and Suzy would have lost something at the 5th stop--by
elimination, the Whirlpool Aero Car. If the family had walked the hurricane
deck of the Cave of the Winds 1st and got soaked on the Maid of the Mist
2nd, by clue 7, Sydney would have lost something 4th at the Skylon Tower, and
the item lost 3rd at Journey Behind the Falls would have been the backpack.
By clue 1, then Sid would have lost the backpack, and Sally would have lost
the sunglasses--no (2). So, the Slapdashes rode the Maid of the Mist
1st and got inundated at the Cave of the Winds 2nd. By clue 1, then Sid
lost something at the Skylon Tower, and Sydney, 3rd by elimination, lost
her sunglasses on the Journey Behind the Falls. Sally lost the backpack (7).
By clue 4, Sammy lost the sweatshirt. Finally, Sid lost his baseball cap and
Suzy her camera (6). In sum, the Slapdashes lost things around Niagara Falls
as follows:
- 1st -- Sammy lost his sweatshirt on the Maid of the Mist
- 2nd -- Sally lost her backpack at the Cave of the Winds
- 3rd -- Sydney lost her sunglasses on the Journey Behind the Falls
