Country Music Requests
Callers win prizes by requesting their country music favorites on WCTY-FM's "Lunchtime Request Line."
July 11, 2005
Neither "Remember When" (clue 11), "Honkytonk U" (12), nor "Still the One" (14) was the 1st song requested, so either "I Hope You Dance" or "Anything But Mine" was. If "Anything But Mine" had been the 1st song requested, Randy would have called in the 2nd request (10). Neither Vicki (1), Mary (8), nor Tony (12) made the 5th request, so Jerry would have. Then the Ferndale resident would have called in 4th (4). Since neither Jerry (9) nor the Ferndale resident (13) won the WCTY-FM t-shirt, by clue 1, Vicki would have made the 1st request; Randy would have won the t-shirt. By clue 8, Mary would have called in 4th, and Jerry would be from Westport. By elimination, Tony would have been the 3rd "Request Line" caller, with Mary requesting "Honkytonk U" (12). Since Randy didn't request "Still the One" (2), by clue 14, the caller from Summerset would have been 2nd and the person who requested "Still the One" 3rd to call. However, there is no way for clue 6 to work given this arrangement. So, the 1st song requested wasn't "Anything But Mine" and was "I Hope You Dance." If "Anything But Mine" were the 2nd song requested with Randy making the 3rd request (10), since neither Vicki (1), Mary (8), nor Tony (12) made the 5th request, Jerry would have. Then the Ferndale resident would have called in 4th (4). Since neither Jerry (9) nor the caller who requested "Anything But Mine" (5) won the WCTY-FM t-shirt, by clue 1, Vicki would have made the 2nd request with Randy getting the t-shirt as a gift. By clue 12, Tony would have picked 4th and Jerry would have requested "Honkytonk U"--no (9). So, "Anything But Mine" wasn't the 2nd request. If "Anything But Mine" were the 3rd song requested with Randy making the 4th request (10), since neither Vicki (1), Mary (8), nor Tony (12) made the 5th request, Jerry would have. Then the Ferndale resident would have called in 4th (4). Since neither the Ferndale resident (13) nor the caller who requested "Anything But Mine" (5) won the WCTY-FM t-shirt, by clue 1, Vicki would have made the 1st request with the 2nd caller getting the t-shirt as a gift. By clue 12, Tony would have picked 3rd, choosing "Anything But Mine"--a conflict with clue 5. So, "Anything But Mine" wasn't the 3rd song requested and was 4th, with Randy making the 5th call (10). By clues 12 and 5, Tony made either the 1st or the 2nd call. If Tony made the 1st call and the caller requesting "Honkytonk U" then the 2nd (12), since the person requesting "Anything But Mine" didn't win the t-shirt (5), Vicki would have made either the 2nd or the 4th request. Trying Vicki having made the 2nd request and the person winning the t-shirt then the 3rd (1), however, there is no way for clue 4 to work given clues 9 and 13. Trying Vicki having made the 4th request and the person winning the t-shirt then the 5th (1), by clue 9, Jerry would have made the 3rd call and Mary the 2nd. Mary would be from Ferndale (4) and Jerry from Westport (8). By clue 14, Randy would have asked for "Still the One" to be played--no (2). So, Tony did not make the 1st request. He was the 2nd caller, with the person requesting "Honkytonk U" then the 3rd (12). Jerry didn't make the 1st (4) or 3rd (9) request and made the 4th; the 3rd caller is from Ferndale (4). By clues 1 and 5, Vicki was the 1st and the person who won the t-shirt the 2nd caller. By elimination, Mary called 3rd; and the Westport resident made the 4th request (8). By clue 14, Vicki lives in Summerst and Tony asked for "Still the One" to be played. Randy requested "Remember When," by elimination. Since the Newbury resident didn't ask for "Still the One" to be played (2), the Newbury resident made the 5th request. By clue 6, Jerry won a WCTY-FM baseball cap. Tony lives in Rockwood. By clue 3, Vicki won a station coffee mug with her request for "I Hope You Dance." Finally, Mary won an umbrella and Randy a windbreaker (7). In sum, the five callers made requests and won prizes as in the following order:

  • Vicki, Summerst, "I Hope You Dance," coffee mug
  • Tony, Rockwood, "Still the One," t-shirt
  • Mary, Ferndale, "Honkytonk U," umbrella
  • Jerry, Westport, "Anything But Mine," baseball cap
  • Randy, Newbury, "Remember When," windbreaker
