| From the introduction, River Glen's 4x400 meter relay team won the meet, with
the Long View High girls placing second and the Wild Lake team finishing third.
By clue 8, Heather handed the baton to Erika, who gave it to the Zayre girl.
Since Heather ran the fastest leg of all 12 run (clue 1) and Alicia led after
the 1st leg (5), Heather couldn't have run the 1st leg. Heather ran the 2nd
leg, Erika the 3rd, and Miss Zayre the 4th for one team. By clue 6, Miss Parks
handed off to the Owens girl, who gave the baton to Jamie. Since Miss Parks
ran the slowest leg of the 12 (clue 2), in clue 5, she isn't Alicia or the
Wild Lake runner in the 1st leg. Miss Parks also isn't Heather, who ran the
fastest 100 meters (1). Therefore, Miss Parks ran the 2nd leg, Miss Owens the
3rd leg, and Jamie the 4th leg for a second team to the one in clue 8. By clue
9, Keisha placed just ahead of the Stone girl at the finish line. Since Jamie
isn't the Stone girl (clue 3), the Stone girl ran the 4th leg for the third
team to the two already given above; and Keisha is Zayre. By clue 10, for the
winning River Glen team, Faith handed off the baton to Lisa. They can't be on
Miss Stone's team, since Miss Stone's team didn't win the relay (9); nor are they
on the team with Heather where we already have three runners established. Since Lisa
isn't the Owens girl (10), she must be Parks, with Faith then having run the
1st leg of the race for River Glen. Since Keisha nipped Miss Stone at the finish
(9), she must be on Long View's 4x400 team, with Miss Stone on Wild Lake's. By
clue 5, then, Alicia ran the 1st leg for Long View; and Faith is Miss West. By
clue 11, Gail ran the 1st, Beth the 2nd, and the Moon girl the 3rd leg for the
Wild Lake girls. Misty and Caitlin ran the same leg (7)--the 3rd. Misty is
Moon and Caitlin Owens (7). By elimination, Debi is Stone; and Miss Young is
then Jamie (4). Since Heather isn't Miss Ryder or Miss Vaughan (1), by clue
12, Gail is Ryder and Beth Vaughan. Alicia is Quinn and Heather Newman (13).
Erika's last name is Torres. The girls ran the 4x400 meter relay in order as
follows:
- 1st, River Glen High: Faith West, Lisa Parks, Caitlin Owens, Jamie Young
- 2nd, Long View High: Alicia Quinn, Heather Newman, Erika Torres, Keisha Zayre
